More Than Half of Sales Collapse But Yours Does Not Have To

New research has revealed that 58 per cent of house sales in the UK now collapse after an offer has been accepted. The average fall-through costs buyers and sellers £2,830 in lost fees and around three months of wasted time. For many, the emotional toll is even harder to bear than the financial one.

At Drivers & Norris, we have seen first-hand what a collapsed sale does to people. It is why we have built every part of our process around one goal: getting your sale over the line.

Here is exactly how we do it.

The first thing we do is make sure the buyer is genuinely ready to proceed. Before we introduce a buyer to a seller, we confirm they have spoken to a mortgage adviser, understand their position in the chain and are committed to moving forward. This removes a significant proportion of deals that would otherwise collapse weeks or months down the line.

Once an offer is agreed, we can put a reservation agreement in place through our partner Gazeal. This commits both buyer and seller to the agreed terms from the outset. Should either party walk away without good reason, financial protections are triggered. It is one of the most powerful tools available for keeping a deal on track and it is something most agents simply do not offer.

We also work with trusted conveyancers through The Guild of Property Professionals. Slow legal work is one of the most common reasons sales fall apart, and having experienced solicitors in our network means we can keep the legal process moving rather than waiting on people we have never worked with before.

Throughout the whole process, our sales team actively manages the chain. We chase progress, flag problems early and keep every party informed so that small issues do not become deal-breakers. When difficult moments arise, and in most transactions they do, we negotiate a way through rather than letting things unravel.

In a market where more than half of agreed sales never reach completion, the agent you choose matters more than ever. We would love to help make sure your move is one that does.

If you are worried your sale might fall through, or you want an agent who will fight to keep your move on track, call our team today on 020 7607 5001 or email [email protected].
